# Data Manager

Onboard audiences and customer attributes into Amazon Ads Data Manager, for use across DSP, Sponsored Ads and AMC.

The Amazon Ads Data Manager connector sends audiences and customer attributes to **Amazon Ads Data Manager**. Once your data is there, it can be used across the Amazon Ads ecosystem for audience management, measurement and activation.

## Description

### What is Amazon Ads Data Manager?

Amazon Ads Data Manager is a data onboarding and management solution from Amazon Ads. It lets advertisers securely ingest and manage first-party data inside the Amazon Ads environment, and it is the entry point to the three core Amazon Ads products - Amazon DSP, Amazon Sponsored Ads and Amazon Marketing Cloud.

With Amazon Ads Data Manager you can:

* Securely onboard first-party customer data into Amazon Ads.
* Manage and organise audience datasets for activation across Amazon advertising solutions.
* Prepare data for analysis and collaboration with other Amazon Ads products such as Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC).
* Maintain privacy-safe workflows aligned with Amazon Ads data governance standards.

First-party audiences only, currently.
{% endhint %}

### Which identifiers are sent

* **Emails**
* **Profile data** - first name, last name, address, phone number, state, ZIP code
* **Mobile IDs**

{% hint style="info" %}
Sending **profile data** requires a specific configuration. Contact your account manager.
{% endhint %}

Amazon Ads is reached by several connectors and they behave differently - [the comparison is on the Amazon Ads page](/connectors/destinations/amazon-ads.md).

## Connector setup

### Prerequisites

* An **Amazon Ads account**.
* An **Amazon Ads Data Manager account**. One is created with your Amazon Ads account; you can also use another Data Manager account if you create one.
* Access to the Amazon Ads platform with the rights to manage the account, and access to the mediarithmics platform.

### Authentication

**OAuth 2.0 with the Amazon Ads API**, performed **by you, in self-service**, from the platform interface during connector setup. No manual intervention from mediarithmics is required.

### Setup steps

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Go to any segment and create a feed.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Select the Amazon Ads Data Manager connector.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Click Sign in and follow the steps.**

You are prompted to allow mediarithmics to access your data.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**You are redirected to the mediarithmics platform, connected. Close the tab.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**To send profile data, contact your account manager.**

They set up the internal configuration, which includes mapping your data model onto Amazon's.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
If your account is not based in Europe, contact your account manager to change the authorisation region.
{% endhint %}

Creating and activating the feed on a segment is covered in the **Audience & Activation** section, under *Activate your audiences › Send your first-party data to a destination*.

### Sending data to Amazon Marketing Cloud (optional)

To use your data in **Amazon Marketing Cloud**, your Amazon Ads Data Manager account must be **linked to your AMC instance**. Either:

* contact **Amazon Ads Support** and ask for the connection between your Amazon Data Manager account and your AMC instance, or
* ask your **mediarithmics account team** to help with the linking.

Once linked, data ingested through Amazon Ads Data Manager becomes available in AMC for analysis and measurement.

## FAQ

#### Do I need a separate account for Amazon Ads Data Manager?

No. A Data Manager account is created automatically when an Amazon Ads account is created.

#### Who performs the authentication?

You do, directly through the interface, using OAuth 2.0.

#### Can the data be used in Amazon Marketing Cloud?

Yes - but your Data Manager account must first be linked to your AMC instance, by Amazon support or through your mediarithmics account team.

#### Can the data be used in Amazon DSP?

Yes.

#### Is manual configuration required by mediarithmics?

Mostly no: the connector is designed for self-service setup. The two exceptions are **linking Data Manager to AMC**, if you want AMC, and **sending profile data**, which needs a mapping between your data model and Amazon's.

## Partner documentation

Amazon Ads documents its own platform at <https://advertising.amazon.com/API/docs>. Use it for anything that happens on the partner side of this connector: account setup, the fields the partner expects, and its own limits.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mediarithmics.io/connectors/destinations/amazon-ads/data-manager.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
