# Segment Exporter

Export the full list of a segment's identifiers to an SFTP server.

The Segment Exporter connector exports a segment to a partner by sending the **full list** of its identifiers to an SFTP server.

## Description

### What this connector does

It writes the whole segment as a file to an SFTP server you nominate. Compare it with [Identifiers Exporter](/connectors/destinations/identifiers-exporter.md), which sends incremental upserts and deletes and can also write to Amazon S3 and GCP buckets.

### What you can do with this connector

* Deliver a complete audience list to a partner that has no dedicated connector.
* Control the file name, header and format.

### Which identifiers are sent

* **Cookies**
* **Mobile IDs**
* **Email identifiers**
* **Profile data**

## Connector setup

### Prerequisites

Give your account manager the delivery specification:

* The **SFTP address**.
* The **SFTP credentials**.
* The **expected file name**, for example `Segmentname_extractiondate(YYMMDDHHmmss)`.
* The **expected header**.
* The **expected file format**.

### Authentication

mediarithmics connects to your SFTP with the credentials you supply. Share them securely with your account manager; they are configured on the mediarithmics side rather than entered on the feed.

Creating and activating the feed on a segment is covered in the **Audience & Activation** section, under *Activate your audiences › Send your first-party data to a destination*.

## FAQ

#### Should I use Segment Exporter or Identifiers Exporter?

Segment Exporter sends the full segment list, to SFTP only. [Identifiers Exporter](/connectors/destinations/identifiers-exporter.md) sends incremental upserts and deletes, and supports Amazon S3 and GCP as well as SFTP.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mediarithmics.io/connectors/destinations/segment-exporter.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
