# Pixel

Fire the Snapchat pixel with an event tag, so Snapchat can build a website audience from your segment.

The Snapchat Pixel connector sends online data to Snapchat from the visitor's browser. The mediarithmics JavaScript tag loads the Snapchat pixel with a key/value indicating that the user is in the targeted segment; you then build a Snapchat audience on that event.

## Description

### What you can do with this connector

* Reach visitors on Snapchat without sending any identifier from mediarithmics.
* Build a Snapchat audience from a page view event tagged with your segment.

### Which identifiers are sent

**None.** The connector triggers the Snapchat pixel to send a **page view event with an `event_tag`** you can filter on in Snapchat.

Snapchat is reached by several connectors and they behave differently - [the comparison is on the Snapchat page](/connectors/destinations/snapchat.md).

## Connector setup

### Prerequisites

* The mediarithmics tag installed on the site, calling `syncFeeds` - the call that enables client-side feeds. See the **Setup & Monitor** section, under *Collect & manage your data › Collect data in real time › Web tracking*.
* A **Snapchat pixel** created in Snapchat Business Manager, and its pixel ID.

### Setup steps

{% step %}
**Create the pixel in Snapchat Business Manager.**

1. Go to **Events Manager** in your Business Manager account.

6. Copy the **Pixel ID** from the confirmation screen.
7. Optionally set up advanced matching or event parameters for finer tracking.
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Select the Snapchat Pixel connector and fill in its configuration.**

<table data-search="false"><thead><tr><th width="240">Field</th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Name</strong></td><td>The name displayed in the mediarithmics platform.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Pixel id</strong></td><td>The ID of the pixel created in Snapchat Business Manager. It is in the <strong>Pixels</strong> tab.</td></tr></tbody></table>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Create a custom conversion and an audience in Snapchat.**

See the FAQ below.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Creating and activating the feed on a segment is covered in the **Audience & Activation** section, under *Activate your audiences › Send your first-party data to a destination*.

## FAQ

#### What is the difference between a custom conversion and an audience?

A **custom conversion** measures a specific outcome and optimises custom events - it is how you identify users coming from the browser who belong to a given mediarithmics segment. An **audience** targets users based on criteria, and a custom conversion is one such criterion.

#### How do I create a custom conversion for users from *Mics segment 1234*?

1. Go to **Events Manager › Custom Conversions**.
2. Click **New Custom Conversion**.
3. Fill in: **Name** `Mics segment 1234`, **Event source** your pixel, **Event type** `Page view`.
4. Under **Rules**, select **Event tag** → **Contains (case insensitive)** → enter `1234`.
5. Optionally add a description, then click **Create custom conversion**.

#### How do I create an audience targeting that custom conversion?

1. Go to **Audience › New Audience › Website events**.
2. Select the pixel.
3. In the **Action** dropdown, select the custom conversion **Mics segment 1234**.
4. Set the duration window - 30 days, 60 days, as needed.
5. Click **Create**.

#### How do I use that audience in a campaign?

In Snapchat Ads Manager, create or edit a campaign, choose **Saved Audience** under **Audience Targeting**, pick the audience, then finish the ad set with placements, budget and creative before launching.

#### How will my audience evolve?

Your Snapchat audience only grows from the moment the mediarithmics–Snapchat pixel synchronisation is set up. It carries the usual client-side constraints: volumes ramp up as users visit your site, exits cannot be signalled, and nothing is sent when the tag is blocked or consent is refused.

Snapchat documents its own platform at <https://businesshelp.snapchat.com/s/>. Use it for anything that happens on the partner side of this connector: account setup, the fields the partner expects, and its own limits.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mediarithmics.io/connectors/destinations/snapchat/pixel.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
