# Server-side

Send offline hashed data to Snapchat and build Custom Audiences.

The server-side Snapchat connector sends offline hashed data from mediarithmics to Snapchat and creates Custom Audiences. It pushes the audience to Snapchat Ads every time the segment is updated.

## Description

### What you can do with this connector

* Build a Snapchat Custom Audience from a mediarithmics segment.
* Control how the segment is named and described on the Snapchat side.
* Set how long Snapchat retains a user in the segment.

### Which identifiers are sent

* **Email hash (SHA-256)**
* **Phone number**
* **Mobile IDs**

Snapchat is reached by several connectors and they behave differently - [the comparison is on the Snapchat page](/connectors/destinations/snapchat.md).

## Connector setup

### Prerequisites

{% hint style="warning" %}
You need **Organisation Admin** rights on your Snapchat account to perform the whitelisting.
{% endhint %}

### Authentication

Whitelist the mediarithmics Snapchat app by opening [this authorisation link](https://accounts.snapchat.com/accounts/oauth2/auth?response_type=code\&client_id=24ab3f69-d2c5-446e-8957-e70dfa50fbd0\&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fnavigator.mediarithmics.com\&scope=snapchat-marketing-api). You are redirected to the mediarithmics platform, and the URI carries a **`code`** parameter. Send that value to your Technical Account Manager to finish the whitelisting.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**The code is valid for 10 minutes.** Coordinate with your mediarithmics account team so the whitelisting happens at the same time.
{% endhint %}

### Setup steps

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Open the authorisation link while signed in with Organisation Admin rights.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Copy the `code` parameter from the redirect URL and send it to your Technical Account Manager, within 10 minutes.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Agree the identifiers to send with your mediarithmics account manager.**

Emails and phone numbers are read from your user profiles - the resource that also stores properties such as first name and last name. Your account manager sets up where each identifier is read, how phone numbers are formatted, and whether identifiers are hashed before they are sent.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Select the Snapchat connector and fill in its configuration.**

Defaults to the feed ID, the mediarithmics segment ID and the segment name, concatenated.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Segment Description</strong></td><td>What the segment is for and how it was built, shared with Snapchat.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Source Type</strong></td><td>The source of the identifiers: First Party, Engagement, Pixel, Mobile or <a href="https://businesshelp.snapchat.com/s/article/foot-traffic-insights?language=en_US">Foot Traffic Insight</a>. Defaults to <code>FIRST_PARTY</code>.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Retention (in days)</strong></td><td>How long before a user is deleted from the segment in Snapchat. Defaults to <code>9999</code>.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>IDs to share</strong></td><td><code>EMAIL</code>, <code>PHONE</code> or <code>MOBILE AD ID</code>. More than one can be selected.</td></tr></tbody></table>
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Creating and activating the feed on a segment is covered in the **Audience & Activation** section, under *Activate your audiences › Send your first-party data to a destination*.

## FAQ

#### The whitelisting code did not work. What happened?

It expires after 10 minutes. Regenerate it by opening the authorisation link again, and have your account team ready to use it immediately.

#### Why can I not complete the whitelisting?

You need Organisation Admin rights on the Snapchat account.

## Partner documentation

Snapchat documents its own platform at <https://businesshelp.snapchat.com/s/>. Use it for anything that happens on the partner side of this connector: account setup, the fields the partner expects, and its own limits.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mediarithmics.io/connectors/destinations/snapchat/server-side.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
