# Navigate the platform

Find your way around the applications, the side bar, search, and settings.

## Your goal

You have access to the platform and you need to find things: the feature you were told about, the segment a colleague built, the settings for your datamart. This page maps the interface so you know where to look.

## Prerequisites

* An account on the platform, with access to at least one organisation.

## The applications

mediarithmics is made up of more than one application. **Navigator** is the application where most day-to-day work happens, and it is the one this page describes.

The **app switcher** is your shortcut to the other mediarithmics applications and documentation. From it you can switch to the **Computing Console** application, where [imports](/setup-and-monitor/collect-and-manage-your-data/import-data-in-batch.md), [exports](/setup-and-monitor/collect-and-manage-your-data/export-your-data.md), [plugins](/setup-and-monitor/extend-the-platform/plugin-architecture.md), and [dashboards](/setup-and-monitor/operate-and-monitor/create-a-custom-dashboard.md) are managed.

## The side bar

The side bar is where you find all of the features available within your organisation. They are grouped as follows:

| Menu | What you do there |
| ---------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **AUDIENCE** | Create and manage your segments. |
| **ACTIVATION** | Manage your feeds, creatives, and automations. |
| **CONTEXTUAL** | Create and manage your targeting lists. |
| **MEASUREMENT** | Manage your campaigns and funnels. |
| **DATA STUDIO** | Explore your data using the Query Tool. |
| **DATA COLLABORATION** | Share your data securely with your partners using the Data Clean Room module. |

{% hint style="info" %}
Which menus you see depends on the features available in your organisation, so your side bar may not show every group in this list.
{% endhint %}

You can collapse the menu to save screen space by clicking the left arrow icon.

## The organisation switcher

If you have access to multiple communities or organisations, the organisation switcher is where you move between them. Each organisation has its own objects, permissions, datamarts, and settings - see [How your instance is organised](/setup-and-monitor/plan-and-integrate/set-up-the-environment/prerequisites-organisation-and-datamart.md#organisations-and-communities).

{% hint style="warning" %}
Check which organisation you are in before you create or edit anything. Objects belong to the organisation you are working in.
{% endhint %}

## Search

The search bar lets you search for several kinds of item at once, from anywhere in the platform, and jump straight to a particular one.

Open it by clicking the search bar, or with the keyboard shortcut:

| Platform | Shortcut     |
| -------- | ------------ |
| Windows  | `Ctrl` + `K` |
| Mac      | `Cmd` + `K`  |

You can search across:

* **mediarithmics apps** - Navigator, Computing Console.
* **Features across apps** - builders, segments, funnel, and so on.
* **Resources** - segments, campaigns, automations, creatives, assets, plugins, imports, exports, targeting lists.

{% hint style="info" %}
For resources, you can search by name, by technical name, or by ID.
{% endhint %}

## Settings

Settings is the entry point to everything you configure for your account and your organisation. From there you can edit:

* **Your account** - your own user settings, including your [API tokens](/setup-and-monitor/manage-the-platform/manage-api-access.md).
* **Organisation** - settings that apply to the organisation you are working in: [users and roles](/setup-and-monitor/manage-the-platform/manage-users-and-roles.md), [single sign-on](/setup-and-monitor/manage-the-platform/set-up-single-sign-on.md), [device registries](/setup-and-monitor/plan-and-integrate/set-up-the-environment/set-up-device-registries.md), labels, and [processing activities](/setup-and-monitor/ensure-privacy-and-compliance/manage-consent-and-processing-activities.md).
* **Datamart** - settings that apply to a datamart of that organisation: [channels](/setup-and-monitor/plan-and-integrate/set-up-the-environment/set-up-channels.md), [compartments](/setup-and-monitor/plan-and-integrate/set-up-the-environment/set-up-compartments.md), [cleaning rules](/setup-and-monitor/collect-and-manage-your-data/clean-and-delete-data/cleaning-rules.md), [computed fields](/setup-and-monitor/collect-and-manage-your-data/design-your-data-model-and-schema/computed-fields.md), and more.

Where each setting lives is tabulated in [Set up the environment](/setup-and-monitor/plan-and-integrate/set-up-the-environment.md#where-these-settings-live).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mediarithmics.io/setup-and-monitor/understand-mediarithmics/navigate-the-platform.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
