# Frame your DCR project

Settle the decisions a Data Clean Room partnership needs before you configure anything.

## Your goal

Decide what your Data Clean Room partnership needs before you configure anything: the type of collaboration, the data you share, what may leave the Clean Room, and who sets up what.

## Expected outcome

A clear picture of your partnership before you configure anything: which type of collaboration it is, what kind of data will and will not leave the Clean Room, and which parts of the setup are self-service and which need your Account manager.

## When this is useful

* When you open a partnership with a new partner.
* When you add a new use case to an existing partnership.

## The decisions to make

Each row is a decision you have to take, and the page where you act on it.

| Decision | Why it matters | Where you act |
| -------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Which type of collaboration matches your use case | mediarithmics provides each type out of the box as a [Collaborative App](/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/setup-clean-rooms/clean-rooms.md#what-a-collaborative-app-is). Data Sourcing, Media Audience Portal, Retail Brand Portal, TV Audience Portal, and Classified Ads Audience Portal each scope a different business context and a different set of allowed outputs. | The comparison table in [Clean Rooms](/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/setup-clean-rooms/clean-rooms.md#what-a-collaborative-app-is) |
| What you are comfortable letting leave the Clean Room | A Collaborative App restricts the authorized outputs to some combination of `INSIGHTS` (aggregated results only), `ACTIVATION` (identifiers for media activation), and `ENRICHMENT` (attributes or segment memberships enriching a partner's datamart). Decide which of these your governance allows before you pick a Clean Room Template. | [Clean Rooms](/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/setup-clean-rooms/clean-rooms.md#what-a-collaborative-app-is) |
| Whether the privacy guarantees fit your compliance needs | Every aggregated result is protected by differential privacy, a default minimum threshold of 10 matched users, and rounding to the lowest ten. | [Security and privacy](/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/setup-clean-rooms/security-and-privacy.md) |
| Whether you need the managed version | Pre-campaign and post-campaign Insights dashboards are currently available in the managed version only; self-service covers dataset onboarding, matching, and activation. | Your Account manager can confirm which version applies to your environment. |
| Who requests the Bunker and the Clean Room Template | Both are set up with your Account manager rather than self-service today. Plan for that lead time. | [Bunkers](/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/setup-clean-rooms/bunkers.md#getting-a-bunker), [Manage your clean room templates](/collaboration/prepare-your-environment/manage-your-clean-room-templates.md) |
| Which datasets you share | Each dataset has a type and a source, and not every type/source combination is available in self-service. | [Share your datasets](/collaboration/prepare-your-environment/share-your-datasets.md#what-a-dataset-is) |
| Which matching keys you use | A matching key is the identifier your dataset and your partner's are matched on. If you use Email, agree with your partner on the hash method. | [Share your datasets](/collaboration/prepare-your-environment/share-your-datasets.md#matching-keys) |
| Which activation feeds both partners approve | By default, no feeds are available for activation within a Clean Room. Only feeds approved by both partners are whitelisted. | [Activate audiences across partners](/collaboration/collaborate-with-a-partner/activate-audiences-across-partners.md#managing-the-compatible-feed-list) |

## The order of work

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Get your Bunker

The mediarithmics team creates the Bunker that hosts your datasets. Ask your Account manager to set one up in your environment.

[Bunkers](/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/setup-clean-rooms/bunkers.md#getting-a-bunker)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set up your Clean Room Template

Turn your governance decisions into a reusable Clean Room Template for the Collaborative App you chose.

[Manage your clean room templates](/collaboration/prepare-your-environment/manage-your-clean-room-templates.md)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create the Clean Room

Open the Clean Room with your partner from that template.

[Create a new clean room](/collaboration/prepare-your-environment/create-a-new-clean-room.md)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Share your datasets

Bring your data into your Bunker and share it into the Clean Room with the purposes you agreed on.

[Share your datasets](/collaboration/prepare-your-environment/share-your-datasets.md)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Match and analyze

Match your dataset with your partner's to compute the overlap, and read the resulting insights.

[Analyze cross-partner behavior](/collaboration/collaborate-with-a-partner/analyze-cross-partner-behavior.md)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Activate or measure

Reach the common or exclusive users on your activation platforms, or measure the results of a joint campaign.

[Activate audiences across partners](/collaboration/collaborate-with-a-partner/activate-audiences-across-partners.md), [Measure campaign performance with third-party data](/collaboration/collaborate-with-a-partner/measure-campaign-performance-with-third-party-data.md)
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## How you know the framing is done

* Every row of the decision table has an answer, and an owner.
* You and your partner agree on the matching keys and, if you use Email, on the hash method.
* Your Bunker and your Clean Room Template are requested from your Account manager.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.mediarithmics.io/collaboration/plan-and-integrate/frame-your-dcr-project.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
